"Hold the Gate"

759th Military Police Battalion

I joined the Army in 1972 and began my Law Enforcement career.  After graduating the the United States Army Military Police School, then located in Fort Gordon, Georgia, I was assigned to the 759th MP Battalion, then located at Fort Dix, New Jersey.  The 759th, was a STRAF unit, and had a global mission.  I was assigned to the 412th Military Police Company,  and the First Sergeant was SFC Thomas E. Booker.  I was indoctrinated into the unit by spending my first month sleeping in a foxhole, learning to be a combat MP.  I then spent some time as a Corrections MP, at the Area Confinement Facility, and then proceeded to "White Hat" road patrol.  My next assignment involved driving an Armored Personnel carrier, and was then transferred to the Sports Arena.  A short time later I was selected to run the "Unit of Choice" recruiting office, and organized the "Hometown Recruiters" bringing young men into the 759th MP BN.  I shipped out for Europe and spent over a year in the 558th Military Police Company, located in "North Point" Kriegsfeld, Germany.  Promoted to the rank of Sergeant and after receiving the Army Commendation Medal, I was again trasnferred back to the 759th MP Battalion, and after spending a few months as the 511th MP Company legal administrator, I was selected to be a Criminal Investigator and moved to the 532nd MP Co. and assigned to the MPI office of the Provost Marshals Office.  During my time in MPI, I graduated from the Military Police Investigation Course, and attended the US Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration training academy, the NJ State Police Academy,  and the Department of the Treasury, ATF Explosives training.   The 759th MP Battalion is now located in Fort Carson Colorado.

These are the Sergeants that ran the 558th MP Company in Germany. I am the one in the center kneeling.  This photo was taken by SP4 George Gasahl at the end of the helipad.  I just returned from a chase chopper mission delivering some "nukes" to the launch site.
